About the project

Tiếp Cận ("Accessibility") is a project of the community of people with disabilities in Vietnam, started by the Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Association of Persons with Disabilities. Goal: wheelchair users and people with limited mobility can know in advance whether a hotel, restaurant or other place can be reached and entered.

How places are rated

The overall level is Fully accessible only when all three conditions are met: the entrance, the way inside, and the toilet. If one is missing the maximum is Partly accessible. If the place cannot be entered independently it is Not accessible. This rule is public and cannot be negotiated; a business may pay to be surveyed but cannot buy the result.

Blue ribbon

The blue ribbon marks a place that employs people with disabilities or is disability-friendly. It is a separate mark that neither adds to nor subtracts from the accessibility level: a place with a blue ribbon can still have steps at the door, and the other way round.

Criteria (draft, awaiting approval by the Association): awarded only when the place agrees to take part and there is verifiable evidence, for example people with disabilities working there, or staff trained to assist guests with disabilities. The Association verifies and records the date; the ribbon can be removed if it is no longer true.

Status
